About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do airlines know about this rule?

I am flying with the KLM to Chengdu (as a Belgian national) and will fly onwards to Hong Kong two days latter, but my concern is that I will be denied at check in because the check in agent is not aware of the rule.
Does anyone have experience with this?

Pieter, generally speaking, the check-in agent knows about this rule because it deals with similar issues all day long.
