About:Xitang Water Town

Shanghai to Tongli to Xitang to Pudong

I would like to go from Shanghai to Tongli in the morning, then to XT in the late afternoon, sleep there, and catch a flight in Pudong airport taking off at 16:30 pm. Is it possible ? What would you advise for transportation ? Bus (where exactly) ? Taxi, but is it expensive ? Thanks !

First of all, I’d like to tell you that both Tongli and XT are water towns. It is fine to just visit one of them and the latter is more recommended.

If you still wish to visit both of them, your time is ok. You can take a high speed train from Shanghai Railway Station to Suzhou Station first. Then walk to the nearby bus station to take a direct bus to Tongli. To XT, you have to take a transfer in Suzhou, but you can arrive at the water town at late afternoon. Take it easy! In the next day, you can take a direct bus from the town to Shanghai and it takes around 1.5h. The bus may arrive at the General Long-distance Bus Station or the South Long-distance Bus Station. You will have enough time to catch up your flight.
