About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying HKG-PEK-AMS

Hello,
I am flying from HKG to PEK and then to AMS on a separate carrier.
1. Do I need a visa during transit in PEK?
2. Do I need to collect my luggage in PEK or can I send them directly on the second flight?
thanks.

Ichan, if your transit time is not more than 72 hours, then the transit permit is not needed. As you use different carriers, I think you may need to collect your luggage in Beijing, but you had better double check this with your airlines.
