About:China Customs Declaration

Am I required to pay custom duties to deliver cosmetic products to my friends for their personal use

John, you'd better check this with your own customs. If your customs doesn't charge the tax, then it's up to Chinese customs. But you shouldn't worry. If the Chinese customs charges tax, it is the receiver who pays the tax.
