About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am planning to fly from Moscow to Cambodia. And I want to buy 2 different air tickets.

I am planning to fly from Moscow - Beijing - Phnom Penh (Cambodia). I wanna buy 2 different tickets in order to get 2 checked-in luggages for international students tickets so my question is that is it possible for me to do that and get the 24-hrs transit visa? For instance, I wanna buy Airline A from Moscow to Beijing and the same Airline from Beijing to Phnom Penh (2 different purchases). Because they only offer the 2 luggages for international students only flying from abroad to China or from China to abroad (not transfer).

Lao, you can do that and you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit without any doubt, but your transit time in Beijing should be shorter than 24 hours! It is important to print out your flight tickets in order to expedite your formalities in both Russia and in China. So, at the time of your check-in in Moscow you will declare that you will travel to Phnom Penh via China using 24 hour visa free transit and you will present them your flight tickets. After a short check, you will be allowed to board the plane. Immediately, upon your landing in Beijing, the first thing that you will do will be to approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets. This is free of any charge. Again, after a short check, your permit will be granted and you will head to the immigration and later to collect your luggage because you will have to perform new check-in. After you have done that, you will again cross the immigration and head to the gate for your flight to Phnom Penh. Here just one detail... Beijing has two international airports and it is fine to have two different and unrelated tickets and also to use both Beijing airports during your transit, but it is important to calculate your time in order to catch your flight on time in case if your flights use different airports. Also, I strongly encourage you to use correct terminology because it is not 24 hour transit visa, but 24 hour visa free transit, so there is no visa of any kind at all. I wish you a pleasant journey.

Hi Sophanith and Borut,

I have a similar situation and would like to check if it has gone fine for you? Although the difference is I am planning to book flights from 2 separate airlines.

A return ticket between Phnom Penh and Guangzhou and another return ticket between Guangzhou and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). The transfer at Guangzhou Baiyun will be under 24 hours.

I would really appreciate your prompt response and sharing of experiences!

To clarify, a return ticket between Phnom Penh and Guangzhou via Air Cambodia and another return ticket between Guangzhou and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) via Air Astana.

Apologies for sending a few texts.

The most important part is, on separate tickets, I will need to go through the immigration check and recheck my baggage. It seems like I will need to apply for some temporary permit. Have you experienced such a case?

It doesn't matter you have separate tickets, Lina. If you will go through the immigration for luggage issues, yes, you need to apply for a temporary entry permit, which costs none and can be obtained in a quite short time. Wish you a nice journey~
