China entry permit for UK resident from Bangkok

I am working and living in Bangkok and plan to travel to China for 3 days.
Do I need to have copies of bank statements to apply for a tourist visa to China?
Thanks

Hi Lucy! Generally speaking, bank statements are not required when applying for the tourist type entry permit. However, since you are not applying in your home country, you should submit the original and photocopy of your residence permit or work permit in Thailand.

Hi Pauline,
Thanks for you reply and answer. I went this morning with copies of work permit, visa, passport, photo, invitation letter and ID card from my Chinese friend. Unfortunately they could not process it as I didn't have an Employment letter (which is more or less my work permit), and also travel itinerary (even though websites state that you should have travel documents OR invitation letter), they even said to me it doesn't need to be a paid ticket, just a proposed itinerary (which is pointless as obviously you can change any of this at any time), and your proposed dates are detailed on your application form...
Try again tomorrow but thanks so much for your reply again:)
