About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Japan-Shanghai-London UK, can I get a 72 hour transit visa?

Hi,
I have a ticket booked with Virgin airlines from Shanghai to London. I need to travel from Japan to Shanghai to get this flight. I intend to stay at a airport hotel for one or two nights and re visit some of my Shanghai friends.
