visa still valid for another 6 months, but want to apply for the new 10 years one

Question

Two years ago I got a 2-year multiple entry type. Now it is still valid till October. I plan to visit my parents in China in May, Can I apply for the 10-year one?Thanks

John, of course you can apply for the 10-year type, but I don't suggest you to apply for it now. You can wait untill your current one expires and then apply for the 10-year one.
