I have a herniated disc. Can I bring my medicine?

My herniated disc causes me a lot of pain especially when sitting down for a long time. I need to bring strong pain killers (category 4) when traveling. It's prescription medicine with my name on the box. Does it need to be declared?

Jennie, I think you should have a prescription and medical certificate from your doctor. When you pass the customs, you'd better declare your medicine. You know, many pain killer pills contain morphine. Morphine isn't allowed to enter China. However, medicine containing morphine can still enter if you hold the prescription and medical certificate.
