cruise ship ends Beijing flight exit Beijing airport. do I need a visa?

I am arriving by cruise ship at the port of Beijing. how long can I stay in Beijing before my outgoing to Canada without an entry permit?

If you don't want to apply for the entry permit, the longest time you can stay in Beijing is 24 hours as you can make use of the 24 hour direct transit policy. In fact, the time can be longer than 24 hours because the layover period counts from the midnight after your arrival.
