can you live in one city in china and commute to work in another?

hi i'm going to be moving to china in the summer. my only problem is that the teaching job is in zhuhai and all my friends live in shenzhen. i was wondering if it is possible to commute to work? you know live in shenzhen and take the ferry to zhuhai everyday. where would i list my residence and all.

Gahen, it is OK to commute to work. You can just put in the actual residence address when filling forms or other documents. It's suggested that you stay in Zhuhai for the first month after your arrival to go through all formalities for getting the residence card.
