About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Question from Canada to HK to BEIIJING to Canada (Macau?)

I am Canadian, entering HK by plane staying for 4 nights (would like to visit Macau) then off to beiijing for 2 nights.
Then back to Canada

Does the 72 hour free transit still apply

And do we still have to apply for Visa to China (before our travels) from Canada?

Thank-you

Yes, the 72 hour free transit policy is applicable to you so that you don't need to apply for the China entry permit.
