Connecting flight at PVG with China Eastern Airline

Hi there,

I am about to buy air ticket to Thailand from Canada. My sister told me she had unpleasant connecting flight experience at PVG years ago. She said she had to pick up all checked in luggages and re-check in again and it took a few hours and no shopping time for her.

The question is if I fly with the same airline all the way from Canada to Thailand (either China Eastern or China Southern), do I have to pick-up my checked in baggage and re-check in again at PVG? If so, how long should I allow for connecting flight at PVG?

Thank you,
Noke

If you book the thorough ticket of China Eastern, you just need to go through the immigration within 10-20min, no need to handle your luggage. Generally, 90-100min shall be enough.

If with the tickets of China Southern, you need to go through the immigration and reclaim your luggage, it is of much trouble and time-consuming. At least 2 hours should be spared.
