Does the application signed by my parents has to be original?

I am a Honduran living in Maryland. I plan on traveling to Shanghai alone on June 2015 for about 3 weeks. I am a minor and I read that my application has to be signed by my parents (they live in Honduras). They are going to sign it, scan it, and email it to me. Is there going to be a problem to send Chinese Embassy the printed copy? What documentation from my parents do I need? Also, since I am traveling alone, do I need any legal document from my parents stating that I can travel alone?

Stephania, generally speaking, the printed copy is acceptable, but the original copy may be required for submission if the officer deem necessary. I'm not sure whether you can apply for the entry permit by yourself and travel alone. If you are allowed to do so, maybe a statement from your parents and their ID cards are to be submitted.
