London -> Hong Kong -> Tokyo -> Shanghai -> London
Hello,
I think I'm sure this is possible, but just for the sake of re-assurance I wanted to double-check that the following is possible for a tourist:
London -> Hong Kong (no visa required for British National passport holders so I can stay for anything under 90 days) then Hong Kong -> Tokyo (no visa required for British National passport holders so I can stay for anything under 90 days) then Tokyo -> Shanghai (72hr free transit) and finally Shanghai -> London.
Now now for the 72hr free transit facility.. I just wanted to check - Say if your flight arrives at 10am (or just any time early morning/afternoon) on a Monday, from what I've read I would presume that my 72hrs would begin from 00:00 Monday night/Tuesday morning - Is that correct? Meaning that I could have the remainder of the Monday in Shanghai + 24hrs on Tuesday, 24hrs on Wednesday and 24hrs on Thursday (but of course it would be best to arrange for the Shanghai to London flight for some point on the Thursday afternoon or evening).
I'm hoping that's correct? I'm just trying to work out how I could maximize the amount of site-seeing time I have as if I was to arrive at say 8pm on the Monday then I would still have to fly out of Shanghai by Thursday afternoon or evening) but I would only have about 2 and a half days worth of site-seeing whereas with the above morning arriving in Shanghai I could have almost 3 whole days worth of site-seeing...
Thank you for your help and the FAQ above by the way - I've found it to be extremely useful! :)
