About:Chinese Embassy in Vietnam

Can I apply for a tourist Visa for China in Hanoi? Or on-line?

I am a British citizen travelling around SE Asia. I am currently in Vietnam. I want to fly from Hanoi to Harbin in January.

Yes, you can apply for an L type in Hanoi, but cannot do it online. Materials you need to prepare are: your passport and a photocopy of its data page, application form and recent taken photo, the original and photocopy of your visa for Vietnam, roundtrip ticket orders and hotel bookings.

Hi Dima,

Apologies for the late reply.

My entry permit for vietnam was expiring in Vietnam and extending it was an issue at the time as the Vietnamese embassy were changing their policies for the new year. So to avoid any trouble I ran across the border into Vientiane, Laos and applied for my Chinese entry permit there.

After 4 days it was successful.

Fill in the application form of 2013 version.

Book your flights in and out of the country and print the confirmation

Book your hostel / hotels and print the confirmation

Take a passport photo with you

Supply your passport

They say you need to show a bank statement to prove you have enough money for your stay but I didn't give them this

That process worked for me - hope it does/has for you too!
