About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

American living and studying in Taiwan

I am currently studying in Taiwan, and have a visitor visa here. I am planning on flying to Shanghai on Feb. 12th and then flying to Russia on the 13th. I will have less than 24 hours there. If my flight from Taipei to Shanghai has a stop at a Chinese airport, I cannot qualify for the 24 hour free transit, correct? Or even if it stops in another Chinese airport, can I still quality for it? Sorry just want to clarify what kind of flight I need to purchase from Taipei.

Patricia, even if it stops in another Chinese airport, you qualify for 24 hour free transit. When transiting through China for a period not exceeding 24 hours, multiple stops are permitted, as long as you can provide the required documents and confirmed onward air tickets.
