would you be able to tell me if  they will be taking a bus/train to go to the terminal for shanghai to manila flight? also, is there free wifi in this airport?

If the next flight is in the same terminal, it is easy to walk to the corresponding airline counter. If in different ones, free shuttle buses between the terminals are available. And yes, the free WIFI is available at PVG.
