About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Hongkong Permit for Chinese People

Chinese citizens from Mainland China need also a Visa or permission for Hong Kong. What is the different between "L" and "G" type?
I heard that the L-type is only for group visiting and G-type is for individual traveling? As a G-type you can take nonstop flights from Beijing to Hong Kong and L-type is via a third city. Is that correct?
Before Chinese people got the "Blue Passport for Hong Kong" (2 for Macau and 2 for Hong Kong)and now they have a new one same as the Chinese ID card?

Chinese citizens really need to get a register for visiting HK or Macau. But the overseas Chinese may enjoy some privileges than those people who live in China mainland.

For visiting HK, L type is for group visiting and the G for individual. If you have L type, you need to join a tour group to enter HK, while for G visitors can enter directly by themself.

The "Blue passport for HK" has no relationship with the Chinese ID card. In HK, the blue permit can be used as a ID card, just as using your Chinese ID card in mainland. They have similar functions.

Thanks Gavin for your reply. Today I saw a Hong Kong G type in form an Chinese ID card. I know that the Chinese ID card has nothing to do with the Hong Kong Permission.
Maybe the Government changed from the "Blue Passport" to the form of an ID card. On the back side is mentioned the valid date (1 year) and that it is valid 2 times for Hon Kong and 2 times for Macau. Do you know that?
