About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a transit visa at Shanghai to go to Vietnam

I am traveling from USA to Vietnam. I have to change flight at Shanghai and I have 90 minuted to catch the onward flight. Vietnam has VOA. Do I need to get a transit type at Shanghai?
