About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa free if I fly to Thailand and then back to China for my flight

I have my flight out of china on the 14th December, and I currently have a single entry one for china. However, I would like to go to Thailand and come back within 72 hours of my flight the 14th. Can I do that or do I need another one for that?

You cannot fly to Thailand, because you only have a single entry. Once you leave China, you cannot go back.

You cannot apply another entry in China, so you are suggested to just stay in China till around Dec 14. Then you can fly to Thailand for your visiting. After that you can fly back to China and leave China within 72 hours. In this way, you can enjoy the 72-hour free transit for your back trip out of China.
