About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

I have a Q2 visa good for 120 days in china, can I apply for a temporary residency to extend my stay

Here, the "temporary residency", do you mean the Residence Permit for Foreigner in PRC?
If so, you cannot and do not needed to apply that. If you want to stay longer, you can just extend your Q2 to stay longer.
