About:Gegentala Grassland

2 days in Inner Mangolia

Hi All,

I will be in Beijing on Friday and want to visit Datong for one day and Inner Mangolia for 2 days. Can you please advise how exactly to reach Inner Mangolia from Datong ? Also, what grasslands should I aim in Inner Mangolia. I do not want to take a tour company but would like to use public buses etc. However, I would like to stay in a decent place and also participate in horse riding etc. I am visiting in the first week of August 2014. How to reach back from there to Beijing ?

By reading your description, I recommend you go to the Huitengxile Grassland in Inner Mongolia. You can take a train from Datong to Jining (集宁) first. Then walk to the nearby long-distance bus station to take a taxi to Middle Banner (中旗). After that, u can take a taxi to the grassland. You can put up a tent and ride a horse there for fun!

I want to do something like your trip, but next summer (2015), so I'd like to know what your experience was like, any advice you can give, etc. [I went to Bejing in September this year, but couldn't manage the Inner Mongolia and horse-riding trip for a few days, which I'm dying to do]
