i am currently on a student visa, that is valid for 1 year, but i want to extend?

My current one is a student type, and I want to extend, in order to travel around China for about 3 months after? Is this possible? I can leave the country in between, if that would make it feasible.

It is impossible to extend your student type for visiting. You can go to the local PSB to apply for a new L type with stay of duration around 30 days to travel around China with your departure flight tickets, hotel booking comformation letter. It is hard to get a L with stay of duration for around 3 monthes. For more detail information, you can go to the local PSB for consulting.
