About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Does it qualify for the 72 hours visa free transit?

This is my itinerary: SCL-CDG-PVG(24h stop)-URC(24h stop)-IKA.

Some Southern China flights even stop both in URC and XIY on their way to IKA.

Neither Urumqi nor Xian are in your list of airports, but is it just an omission? Also, after 1 month in IKA I go back to PVG for studies, so I am coming out of SCL already with a student X1. I don't want the police to stamp it in my first transit stop at PVG, and use instead the free transit, or else my X1 will expire before I return to China and even get a chance to register at my university.

Is there the risk the airport police rushes to stamp my student X while I'm still just in transit? Would they be angry or react badly if I covered the X1 with post-it notes to avoid having it stamped ahead of time? Could your company offer a service to me to somehow notify my situation and make sure I have no problem with the Chinese police?

Thanks!

Hi, this itinerary does not apply to this free transit because your flight stops at URC or either Xian. So, I am afraid you have to change itinerary or just apply for a transit G type in advance. However, you should be aware that your current X1 will be cancelled when you get the transit G. Thus you can also use the X1 for this visit.

Thanks, I see. So I'll have to buy an air ticket Shanghai-Tehran that makes no stopover in China. Even in that case I am afraid if they stamp on my X1 in Shanghai. Am I worrying over nothing or it's indeed risky?

If you change itinerary with a stopover in Shanghai within 72 hours, you can enjoy free transit. You can also inform your carrier airline for this free transit request and the free transit permit will be granted upon arrival.
