About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

My question is if it's possible for me to apply for a Chinese tourist visa if I visit Japan?

I'm a Swedish citizen currently living in Shanghai with an X2. When I arrived to China I applied for one more entry which I have already used. I would now like to travel to Tokyo, Japan and then return back to Shanghai. Can I come to the consular office with my passport and get a Chinese tourist L? How many days will that take? Thank you so much in advance!

Well, you can fly to Japan and apply for the L type. However, you should apply via appoited travel agencies instead of going to the consulae or embassy directly. Usually, it takes four or five working days to deal with your application.

Thank you for the answer. But why do I need to contact a travel agency when I can just visit the consulate?

Hi, as I know, temporary visitors in Japan can apply from the consulate directly. So I think what James said above is for residents only.
