About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Flight to China

Hi,

I'm Canadian and I'll be flying to Beijing from Tokyo. However, the flight to China that I'm looking at, has a stopover in Shanghai to transfer for a flight to Beijing (same airline). I'm not planning to tour Shanghai and I'm hoping to get an in-transit visa once I land in Beijing. Is this possible?

After Beijing, I'm flying to the Philippines.

Thanks!

Hi, if your flight stops at two airport in two different cities, you can not avail 72 hour free transit. But if your total stay is less than 24 hours, you can apply for a free transit permit at Shanghai airport which can be used to go out of the airport (in Beijing as well) for this transit.
