1. For train no. Z19, a Luxury Soft Sleeper costs CNY765.5/US$124. There are children tickets, but it depends on the height of the child.
2. Flight from Xian to Guilin on June 18, it costs CNY600 (US$97) per person and your kid gets 50% discount;
Flight from Guilin to Shanghai, it costs CNY590 (US$96) per person and your kid gets 50% discount.
3. The train from Shanghai to Beijing, leaving at 09:00, should be high speed train no. G2. There are only first class seat, second class seats and business class seats. Their costs are CNY933/US$151, CNY553/US$90 and CNY1748/US$282 respectively! Also your kid may get a free ticket or child ticket considering the height.
4. We are able to deliver the train tickets to your hotel in Beijing, and you need to pay a little delivery fee. And you will have e-air tickets.

How long does it take to get to Shanghai Pudong airport from centre of the city?I heard that using public transport it may take 5 hours-is it true?

It is not true. There is 50km or a little father between Hongqiao Airport and Pudong Airport, but it only takes no more than 2h by metro. Therefore, the duration from the city center to PVG takes much less than 2h for sure.
