About:Urumqi Diwopu Airport

Waiting in Urumqi Airport

I will have a wait time of about 7 hours in this Airport before my next flight to Vancouver, Canada via Beijing. Is there a rest area in the Airport if you are only flying economy class? My wait time is from about 1 am to about 7-8 am so I definitely will want to sleep or rest. Is it possible to go out of the airport to a hotel during the wait without a Chinese visa? I am hoping someone has some ideas for me - thanks in advance.

If you total transfering and staying time in this airport and BJ airport is no more than 24 hours, you can apply for a stay permit to get out of the airport.
As I know, there is no airport lounges in the terminals.
If you stay longer than that, you may need to get a transit visa for out of the airport.

Thanks Allen for the reply. Do you or anyone know if you can apply for the permit on arrival at the Airport or do you have to do it in advance from home? Thanks again....

The stay permit can be applied just at the airport. You do not need to appy for in advance.
