About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

SFO-Shanghai Pudong (PVG)-HKG: will 72-hour transit VISA free policy apply?

Departing SFO to PVG, stay 48 hours in Shanghai only, then fly to HKG. Will the 72-hour transit free policy apply? If so, what is the process of getting it?

Yes, you can avail this free transit policy in Shanghai. The permit will be issued on arrival at PVG, but you should inform your airline about this free transit in advance and leave your general information with them.
