Hi, as I know, you need to apply for electronic passport this time. Online appintment via ppt.mfa.gov.cn is required. The processing time is uncertain by their notice, but status can be tracked. You can contact the consulate via 713-5278954 or officialvisahoustongmail.com for more details.
