Thanks for the wonderful and useful information here.

1. Can I buy a SIM card from China - and use it in a Nokia phone I buy from India?
2. What are the acceptable forms of ID?
3. In Guangdong which is the best carrier - China Unicom?
Thanks so much for the help.

Yes, you can buy a sim card in PRC and use it in your Nokia phone. However, you should figure out what mode your Nokia supports. The GSM, CDMA and WCDMA are the three most frequent modes. If you use GSM, then you should buy a simcard from China Mobile. If CDMA, buy one from China Telecom. If WCDMA, buy it from China Unicom.
