do i need hotel booking while entering china ?

Hello,I will be in Yunnan soon. I will arrive at Kunming Int'l airport and after a month will depart from GZ int'l airport. So do I need accommodation bookings with me for any day or for all days while entering China ? I would like to do backpacking as well as couchsurfing in Yunnan. To meet local people. So in this regard how can I register my PP + china visa with local authorities.I am having an Indian PP.Regards,Raj

If you do not have a invitation letter, you need to provide the round trip air tickets and the hotel reservation for applying L visa. If you are a couchsurfing, you need to go to the local police stations to register according to the rules.
