Do I need hotel booking while entering China ?

Hello,

I will be in Yunnan soon. I will arrive at Kunming Int'l airport and after a month will depart from GZ int'l airport. So do I need accommodation bookings with me for any day or for all days while entering China ? I would like to do backpacking as well as couchsurfing in Yunnan. To meet local people. So in this regard how can I register my PP + china visa with local authorities.

I am having an Indian PP.
