About:Chinese Embassy in South Korea

Eligibility for 72 hour visa ICN>PEK>URC>IST

Hello, I am an American citizen flying from Seoul to Istanbul with a layover in Beijing.
My flight from Beijing to Istanbul has a stopover in Urumqi Diwopu International Airport but it is not a layover, just a stop (I assume to pick up more passengers or refuel) . Am I still eligible for the 72 hour free transit because the second section of the flight is considered direct PEK airport to IST in Turkey.

I am afraid not because there is a stop in URC. You can confirm this with Beijing Airport directly at 0086-10-56095400.

As I said though, the flight is considered direct from PEK to IST.
