About:China Embassy in Thailand

Is it possible to apply for a visa in Bangkok for a single entry to PRC?

Hi, I am a British Citizen and wanted to visit Thailand for a week and from there go to China.

I think you should apply for it from CVASC branches in GB before you go to Thailand. In this way, you won't be bothered if you are refused to apply for it in Thailand.

The problem is I am already overseas. The only other option I have is to go Hong Kong instead. But I would much rather spend 5 days in Thailand than HK. I have had many Chinese visas previously and have all the required documents necessary.

Hi alex, I suggest you apply in GB because of the new rule. It requires that applicants who apply in the third country must provide their resident permit for employment or study or any other valid legal status in the third country. Therefore, I am not sure if you can apply for it successfully in Thailand. It has the same rule in HK. However, I was told that people from GB, USA and just a few other countries can still apply there even they don't have HK resident status.
