About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Question on 72 hours

I am going to Beijing Capital From USA staying for 72 hours then have connecting flight to Tokyo confirmed. When does the 72 hours begin? Is it when flight arrives or when you obtain visa permit from local customs?

According to the regulation, the 72 hour permit starts from the issue time, not the time of flight arrival. But many airlines may check your tickets with scheduled time of arrival and departure when you board the plane.
