About:China Embassy in Thailand

Is it possible to get a tourist visa for china in Bangkok if I have only a thai tourist visa?

I'm french and I have a proper thai tourist ( 60 days, double entry). I would like to go to China for 2 weeks. I've been there before and got a tourist L in Bangkok but I was holding a thai education type at that time. Is a tourist one a proper "valid certificate of stay"?

Thank you for your reply. I did call the consulate (in Songkhla because at Bangkok they never answer the phone!) but they were not very clear about it.
