About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will travel to Bangkok, go through Beijing or Shanghai?

American who will travel to Bangkok soon, and wanted to know if I have to apply for visa; I wish to stay one or two on my layovers, Haven't bought my flight yet, but it would be Shanghai or Beijing, going in and coming back.

72 hours free transit is available in both Beijing and Shanghai. If you have onward ticket and valid visa for Thailand, then you can enjoy 72 hours in Beijing or Shanghai. It just depends on where you want to stop for a visit.
