Do I need a visa if my international flight from KZ has an internal flight in China

I can buy a ticket from Astana to Urumqi to Guangzhou to Auckland(NZ). The layovers in china are 3 hours and 5 hours respectively. I hold an NZ passport. Do I need any sort of visa?

Don't worry, you do not need visa if your total stay in China is less than 24 hours. But you need to get a stay permit after arrival at Urumqi airport.
