would like to have stopover in hong kong and day trip into macau,
What visas do I need , I am AUstralian

No, your passport is enough, you are allowed free entry.

Confirmed. Australian passport holders are not required to obtain a prearranged visa prior to visiting Hong Kong or Macau.
