Haikou to Hanoi via Nanning

I would like to go the least expensive way from HK to Hanoi. I do not think there are flights. Is there a bus from HK to Nanning and a bus from Nanning to Hanoi? Can I get a visa at the border or in Nanning?

There are direct buses between HK Gangkou Bus Station (Xiuying Port) and Nanning. It is around 535km between and the bus fare is CNY288 per person.

Then at Nanning Langdong Bus Station, take a bus to Hanoi directly. The distance is 430km and the bus fare is CNY138.

Generally, you have to apply for a visa to Vietnam in advance.
There is a way for you to get the visa upon arrival at China. go to Vietnam Embassy in Guangzhou, where you may successfully apply for a visa.
Just for your reference and it is best to get that ahead.
