About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Do I need BNO to apply for a Chinese visa? I have HK ID card.

I don't think you need a BNO passport to apply for it. Since you have the HK ID card, you should be a resident of HK SAR. Thus, you just need to apply for the Home Return Permit. Its validity is 10 years.
