Do your parents live in mainland PRC now? and how about your age? if you they are here, you are eligible to apply for S type for family visit. S1 is for longer stay of more than 6 months, and you can get a residence permit. But you visit your grandmother, you may only be able to get a visit L with 30 days. Invitation letter is required.
