About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

Visiting GuangZhou but entering via Hong Kong/Macau

Hi

We will be visiting Hong Kong & Macau for holiday and we are planning to visit GuangZhou for a day or 2. We (Irish & British citizen) are not sure whether we require to apply for a VISA if we're going to GuangZhou via Macau/Hong Kong. I am also a citizen of Macau so I am holding my Macau ID card.

Can you please advise.

Yes, you need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance for a visit to Guangzhou. If you are a citizen in Macau, you can also apply there from the Commissioner's office of the Minsitry of China Foreign Affairs in Macau.
