About:K Trains

kunming and lijiang

hi i am coming in late oct with two teenagers who are not so interested in scenery visiting so can you suggest what to do to keep them entertain? At the same time can you quote me a budget hotel that sleeps 3 which is walking distance to all amenities ie shopping and food and night markets? Can you also suggest a place to stay in Lijiang and how many nights in KM and Lijiang is enough? Can i do a DIY to snow mountain and is there real snow for mu kids to play? How much the cost to enter?

Sorry to hear that they are not interested in scenery, becaue KM is really a beautiful city. Anyway, I suggest you take them to Yunnan Ethnic Minority Village (near Dianchi Lake) to experience the life of minority and Stone Forest is a must-see scenic spot. Apart from that, local Nanping Pedestrian should not be missed, where you can go shopping, taste local food or have fun. Xingyun Street is a good place to have local snacks and Cultural Lane would show you the best side of KM night market.

Nanping Pesdestrian is within walking distance from Xiagyun Street and both of them are not far from Cultural Lane. So I suggest you live in the area. Zhiyun Hotel and Seven Day Chain Inn can be good choices fro you. They are at Nanping Street and budget hotels.

In Lijiang, it is very easy to find a hotel. It is suggested to check in a hotel or inn near Lijiang Ancient Town, which shall be conveneint to enjoyment.

Generally, you can stay in KM for at most three days two nights and two days in Lijiang.

Sure, you can go a DIY trip to the snow mountain and there would be many foreign people there. The entrance fee for the attraction is CNY105 and you also need to pay CNY80 as Protection Fare of the town.

Yes, there is real snow there. But when will you have the trip? Generally, when the temp falls to 0C, you will have fun with snow

hi many thanks for the quick reply. Can you tell me the rate for three people sleeping in zhiyun and seven days inn then? What suggestions for Lijiang hotel also? As they are three of us, what is the cheapest way to get from airport to hotel? If by taxi, how much? In Lijiang, where else can i go aside to snow mountain? And how do i go there? DIY or hired a private guide with van? I am coming in October.

Firstly, I'd like to tell you that a room of Zhiyun Hotel and Seven Day Inn holds two people and for you three, you may need two rooms. Or you can ask the staff to add a bed and you need to pay for that. I remember it costs CNY130-170 per night per room and if you add a bed, the rate seems to be CNY90.

In Lijiang ancient town, there are many inns. I lived in a Xijie Mingfu Inn at No. 57, Xingwen Lane, Qiyi Street, and around 3min walking distance from well-known Sifang Street in the town. The rate is CNY120-160 for a standard room.

From KM Airport, you can take shuttle bus line 1 to Xiaoximen, where transfer to bus no. 10 or 84 to Nanping Street West Exit. Then go for a hotel. If take a taxi, the taxi fare shall be around CNY70.

I have to remind you that the Impression Lijiang Show at the Snow Mountain should not be missed as well. Aside from the Snow Mountain, the Tiger Leaping Gorge is a popular destination. It is highy recommended!

There are direct buses between Lijiang and Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiaoxia). It is a little expensive to rent a van!

Oct. shall be a good time to travel Yunnan, but you'd better avoid the first week of Oct. when it would be Chinese National Day Holiday and very crowded.

Thanks Collan for your help! 7 days has very poor reviews and i cannot find the website for zhiyun hotel in KM, what about any hotels in nanjing pedestrian area? Is new century any good? Again cannot find the website!
As for the impression show, how much is the ticket or is it included in the entrance fee? Very sure my kids can play with snow in October?

I wonder whether u are referring to KM New Era Hotel at Nanping Street. It has great service and I enjoyed it. But it is a little expensive. Oh, you can pay to add bed.

And the ticket of Impression Lijiang costs CNY190 per person. It is excluded in the entrance fee of the snow mountain.

Yes, there is thin snow in Oct. Take them there in late Oct and maybe they can play the snow.

The Star of Spring City at No. 241, Baita Road may suit your reqirement, but it may be a little bit far away from Nanping Street. This hotel is about 1.5km from the Nanping Street.
