About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Flying from Canada to Beijing for 42 hours then to Hong Kong. Do I qualify for 72 hour free transit?

I have my flight booked with Air Canada from Toronto to Beijing, with a stop over of 42 hours staying in a hotel outside of the airport. I then fly to Hong Kong with Hong Kong airlines. How do I apply for this from Canada or on arrival or do I let Air Canada know prior to departure?

Yes, I think you are qualified for the 72 hours free transit in Beijing. You should inform your airlines at least half an hour before the plane lands at Beijing Airport. The airline has to confirm that you are going to the third country or region.
