About:Shanghai Metro Ticket

Shanghai airport to hotel transportation on Guangdong Road

I am going from PVG airport to my hotel at 138 Guangdong Road, Huangpu . If I am looking at this right I can get a maglev and metro pass...take the maglev and it looks like maglev turns into subway line 2 and goes only a couple blocks from my hotel? Is this right? Do I need to transfer?

Yes, you are right. You can take the maglev and change to subway line 2 at Guanglan Road Station. Then take the line 2 to reach the East Nanjing Road Station. Then you can walk to reach your hotel in a couple of blocks.
However, I think it may be hard for you to find your hotel from East Nanjing Road Station. In my opinion, you can take the local subway line 2 to reach Lujiazui Station directly and then change to take a taxi to reach your hotel. It is much convenient.

Thank you so much! Your advice is soooo helpful! Do you know how I would make it to the bullet train station from my hotel. After my visit in SH I am planning to take the bullet train to Beijing.

Hi, you can walk from your hotel to Yuyuan MTR Station to take local subway line 10 to Hongqiao Railway Station to catch the high-speed train to Beijing. Or you can walk from your hotel to East Nanjing Road MTR Station to take line 2 to the train station to catch the train.

Thank u!!! Can u usually get a train ticket within an hour or so once I arrive or do they usually sell out? I was wanting to either do the overnight one and get a sleeper car or do the faster one if I can get a ticket before they sell out. Is there anywhere else in downtown SH city I can buy the train ticket beforehand. I also heard that only certain people can ride in the sleeper cars. Is that true?

As long as it is not during peak season, say Chinese National Day holiday, you can generally get a train ticket within an hour, because the trains between the two cities are relatively frequent.

Yes, you can surely buy a train ticket in downtown SH. There are many train tickets offices or centers or outlets. Ask your hotel staff about the nearest center and get the tickets.

As for the sleeper cars, do you refer to the sleeper carriage in the high-speed train? Generally, G trains don't have such kind of carriage, except some overnight trains. If there is, you can certainy buy the tickets for that. This is no striction that certain person is allowed fro that. Don't worry!
