overstaying in china for about 10 days

Do we allowed overstaying (increasing 10 days to 20 days) ;after arriving and then checking with local immigration office in Hefei? our invitation letter approved our staying is valid from Jul.24.2013 for 10 days; but because of some problem we want to prolong it? we are business man.
