Can anyone recommend me a travel route for Inner Mongolia

I am very interested not only in the Grasslands but also in the History of the Mongolian EMpire, particularly Genghis Khan.

I believe a good travel route would be 1) Bugthot, 2)Ordos, 3)Hohhot, 4)Hulunbeier, [I'll pass through Datong and Beijing as a pit stop] 5)Chifeng
Should I add any other city?
What historical places and scenic spot should I see in each?
What order? How many days in each city?
When where can I see the Nadam Festival.
