Flying from Shenyang to Bangkok via Jieyang

Hi - I am British and working in Shenyang. I am looking for the cheapest way to fly from Shenyang to Bangkok and back. I found a good flight via Jieyang but it involves an 8 hour stopover (from 00:00 to 08:00). As I will have checked in at Shenyang and presumably I won't collect my baggage would I still be able to leave the airport and use an airport hotel for a few hours?
